You are familiar with free verse poetry, narrative poetry and lyrical poetry. Another type of poem is Framed Poetry. Framed poetry is poetry that give specific guidelines about how the poem should be written. An example of framed poetry is the Bio poem you completed. You will write two other types of framed poems for you post today: I Am poem and Haiku. Please see the guidelines for each below:
Format for a Haiku Poem
A haiku is a non-rhymed verse genre.There are 5 syllables in the first sentence, 7 in the second and 5 again in the last sentence.
Format for an "I Am" Poem
First Stanza
I am (two special characteristics about person)
I wonder
I hear
I see
I want
I am (first line of the poem repeated)
Second Stanza
I pretend
I feel
I touch
I worry
I cry
I am (first line of poem repeated)
Third Stanza
I understand
I say
I dream
I try
I am (first line of poem repeated)
